The
Universal Stylet Bougie, or USB™, represents a significant advance in the design and development of tracheal tube introducers (bougies) and stylets and we are delighted to confirm we have made a number of additional improvements to the device to further optimise product performance.
The two malleable sections of the device were initially identified by a series of polka dots; in order to make it easier to identify the sections of the device that are malleable, we have replaced the polka dots with solid grey lines. The profile of the coudé tip has also been refined to make it easier to insert and remove the device from a tracheal tube and the length of the malleable section around the curve of the device has also been increased to make it easier to straighten when the intention is to use the USB in a similar way to a standard bougie. Finally, the original length markings, which were located at 12, 20 and 35cm from the tip (patient end), have now been updated to 12, 20 and 45cm so they align with the malleable sections of the device; they also provide a guide for the user of the length from the tip (patient end).
